Whittling

Equipment:
 
To start a whittling project you must first forage for sticks.  The best place I've found for foraging sticks is the palace gardens in Central Athens.   There are cypress, maple and walnut sticks so far.  Cypress is the easiest wood to work with.
 
The second thing you will need is a dagger or knife.  WARNING:  Whittling will dull whatever weapon you use to whittle with.  To save money and not destroy a good weapon, I tend to go outside the gate and kill a few rowdies until one drops a nicked dagger.  As of now the quality of the knife or dagger doesn't seem to effect whittling.
 
 

STEPS:
 
Ok, now that you have your equipment, it's time to get down to business!
 
First type CRAFT LIST WHITTLING to find out what items you have a possibility of whittling.   The first items on the list will be the easiest and you should start with a wooden skewer first since you should have about a 50/50 chance of actually succeeding at making one.
 
So, you've decided to whittle a wooden skewer, type CRAFT HINT WHITTLING WOODEN SKEWER to get a basic idea of what to do.
 
Next, type WHITTLE WOODEN SKEWER FROM MY STICK, which will put you on the road to actually whittling.
 
At each step you can get hints to what to do next by using CRAFT HINT (noun of item in your hand that you're whittling...stick, carving, block, ball, etc...)
 
Some items will need you to whittle a ball or block before you can make your item.  To find out which type CRAFT HINT WHITTLING WOODEN (item you want to whittle).
 
Some of the verbs you will need to know to whittle:
 
TRIM (item)
PEEL (item)
POINT (item)
TRACE (item)
MARK (item)
SHAPE (item)
CARVE (item)
POKE (item)
 
As you get more skilled when you type CRAFT LIST WHITTLING more items will show up on your list.
 
The ability to whittle an item comes from your skill in whittling and wood.  The skill amounts listed beside the item will be whittling ...and only to my best guess.  The second number is the worth of the item at the consignment shop.

I didn't pay attention to when I was able to whittle which items, so I don't know what level things are.   If you let me know what level you can whittle things at, I'll put it on the list and make sure you get credit for it.
